Virgo Rising Records (VRR), founded in 2002 on the outskirts of New York City, is a small and elegant independent record company that specializes in producing quality music.
At VRR, we believe that art is a reflection of the soul of the artist - and thus the soul of humanity. One (the artist) builds and expands the other (the art) - which in turn builds and expands the former - bringing pleasure, excitement, fun, awareness, and growth to all who hear. This being true, VRR believes in, seeks out, and facilitates the creation of musical art that is "audibly" pleasing to the spirit and to the ear.
VRR is dedicated to developing, nurturing, and supporting great artists on their journey to create and share audible art with the world. Our dedication is to provide good artists with a great home for their music, and an environment that encourages growth, expansion, and innovation. And to then present that magic to the world community.
Standing in that vision, VRR presents it's initial jazz series with the launch of a highly gifted jazz vocal talent - Karen Francis. This is the first VRR project - which features Jazz Bassist Christian McBride - and is due out for official release in July 2003. The pre-release is already receiving rave reviews in a small test market and being played regularly on the nations top radio station - WBGO FM 89.3 in Newark, New Jersey.
